Fixed Term full time night shifts covering maternity leave
We are seeking a caring kind hearted Residential Support Worker for night shifts to cover for a period of maternity leave commencing immediately and ending 31 May 2020.
The Laura Fergusson Trust Canterbury is an independent, not-for-profit, community and residential rehabilitation provider. Our residential service provides long term support for younger people with a variety of congenital and neurological conditions while seeking "ordinary life" opportunities for them.
We are looking for someone who is interested in working as part of a large team passionate about delivering the best possible care and support services for our clients. As a support worker you will need a disposition of understanding while trying to empower our clients to lead an ordinary life. You will be interested in making a difference in people's lives.
This position also presents an opportunity to further develop your role within a caring profession.
To achieve this you will need to:

- Be able to work in partnership with our clients
- Be able to maximise independence of our clients while encouraging choice, initiation and participation in activity
- Have the ability to demonstrate efficient time management and the ability to work autonomously but be part of a team
Experience working with people with disabilities and a knowledge of the Health and Disability Sector Standards, Health and Disability Commissioner (Code of Health and Disability Services Consumer's Rights) would be advantageous.
